The tasks of a data architect are extensive and range from conceptual, strategic work to practical activities. 

The main tasks of the data architect are:

  • Lead data architecture projects
  • Establish and then maintain Sika’s data architecture, conceptual design of data engineering, data storage, data processing, data science, data analytics, data visualization, and data automation, the identification of data sources, and data archiving
  • Participation in IT projects as data expert
  • Definition and control of the data governance 
  • Classification of data and data sources (together with data owners and the IT security team) 
  • Establishing guidelines for data quality (supporting Sika’s responsible for master data management)
  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of the data strategy including planning and control of the corresponding measures 
  • Implementation of data governance together with the data owners in the business
  • Further development of the data architecture as part of the enterprise architecture and development of solutions in the information architecture environment (such as transparent reporting and identification/definition of lead systems)
  • Inclusion of data protection and data security requirements in the development of the data architecture (align with Data Protector team and IT Security)
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications to further develop the data strategy.
  • Define standards and establish processes for data modeling, data integration, data management, and data storage (data warehouse, data graphs, data lakes, or other data repositories).
  • Define and maintain reference architecture to use with data and analytical workloads.
  • Define and maintain data flows describing how data will move between systems and how it will be managed.
  • Work with application and architecture teams to understand, create, and maintain data models.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create data and analytics roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the organization to make sure they adhere to the data standards.

Your expertise - Our strength

  • Masters`s degree in computer science, management information systems, data science, or relevant work experience as a substitute for degree
  • Relevant rechnical certifications, such as TOGAF, CAS digital IT Architecture
  • Several years of experience with data architecture & data management.
  • Practical experience with data warehouses, data lakes, graphs and Cloud Architecture, including usage of Hyperscaler-Services.
  • Experience with data aggregation and data science including collaboration with domain experts.
  • High degree of independence, initiative, flexibility, sense of responsibility and reliability.
  • Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills.
