THE OPPORTUNITY:

Under the authority of the R&D/QC lab supervisor, the R&D Engineer/Chemist will work on various tasks involving research and development for various projects in addition to supporting the team with quality control testing and procedures for all products produced in the plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop the tests to be done to verify the compliance of the products and the corrective and preventive actions to be taken in the event of non-compliance related to the formulations of the products.
  • Collaborate with the R&D/QC lab supervisor and other R&D personnel to write and review R&D formulations, track compiled results on the laboratory report, raw material analysis report and raw material specifications, and review product manufacturing procedures.
  • Supervise and/or perform research steps for various chemicals.
  • Complete and process appropriate forms related to their tasks.
  • Perform all other related tasks in accordance with Sika Canada Inc. quality assurance procedures.
  • Complete and revise Safety Data Sheets (SDS), pass information to Production Coordinator to complete safety labels.
  • Implement the various environmental management program procedures applicable to its business area.

Your expertise - Our strength

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Chemistry or Engineering (Chemical/Materials/Civil)
  • Work experience in research and quality control preferably in a related field.
  • Fluent in English; oral and written. Bilingual English/French considered an asset.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Skills to design and implement solutions for problem solving.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work in laboratory, dry and/or humid environment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift loads of up to 30 kg.
  • Handling various chemicals, personal protective equipment is required.
    • Please note that in order to properly use the respirators in the lab, all team members have to be clean shaven at all times with the exception of a few styles that do not impact the seal. More information will be provided.
