Sitting within Target Market Concrete, the Concrete Technical Services team support the commercial team through laboratory concrete trials, customer site support and problem solving to ensure customer  satisfaction. The position would be field based within an experienced team, ensuring standards are maintained and all targets are achieved.

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Concrete Technologist  will ensure all technical services activities are carried out safely, accurately and on time, whilst offering a proactive technical support service to the sales teams in supporting existing customers and winning new business. This role will cover readymix, precast and mortar customers, under the direction of the Technical Services Manager.

The Opportunity:  

This is a varied role where you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work for a market leading global construction chemical admixture supplier, with readymix, precast and mortar customers.
  • Carry out laboratory trials within Sika concrete laboratories and support with customer plant trials.
  • Ensure all activities conducted by the team within the laboratory and on site are carried out safely.
  • Work to BS EN test procedures and report all findings, as well as support product innovation and development.
  • Gain technical knowledge on concrete and mortars, while understanding how Sika chemical admixtures improve the performance of cementitious materials.
  • Plan and prioritise workloads in line with the department strategy for yourself and the laboratory team, as well as working within the wider technical services team.
  • Liaise directly with customers and advise on product selection and performance.
  • Travel to various sites within the UK, both customer and Sika, with the possibility of overnights stays being required.

The Skills:

We are looking for a pro-active, technically experienced individual, ideally from a concrete laboratory, construction material testing or R&D background.  A fast learner with a keen eye for detail, methodical approach, accurate, whilst ensuring all H & S protocols are strictly adhered to each time.

The Future: 

The position of Senior Concrete Technologist is a full time permanent position. Further progression within the technical department may be possible to Technical Services Manager. Opportunities outside of the technical department may also be possible, such as sales or product management, as well as overseas opportunities, as Sika is a global company.

Your expertise - Our strength

  • Experience working within a concrete testing laboratory, or within construction sectors.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, problem solve and work to deadlines, as well as having good time keeping with a strong work ethics
  • H & S experience/knowledge in working with risk assessments and safe working protocols.
  • Concrete Technology qualification/knowledge.
  • IT Literate (MS Office).
  • Full driving license is essential.
